Cairn Painting

Painted this Cairn, stack of stones, in Kelley MacDonald's class and am working on others.  To many, these stacked stones represent balance on the path of life.  There's something very peaceful about looking at these....How do you plan to maintain balance in your life during the holidays?

Home for the Holidays!

I've really been having fun getting a head start on the holiday season by painting some small oils.  I try to extend this season as long as I possibly can, trying to fit in every event that embraces the holidays.

I had to add the bag of gold coins that I found every year in my stocking-- I would be so excited to have chocolate so early in the morning, only to find it very disappointing-- they would be almost white in color and looked a few years old.  I still can't walk by them in a store, though, without buying that little mesh bag!  Maybe I can trade them in at a Cash for Gold store!

The kisses, on the other hand, I love to eat....I've gone through an entire large bag of kisses while painting, perhaps I should consider painting yogurt or fresh fruit next.

What do you remember getting in your stocking?  Maybe I'll paint that next!

City Hall

Today I attended the funeral of former Mayor James Milano.  Not only did he serve as Mayor for our city for 20 years, but he served his country, his church, and his community his entire life.  Last week, he passed away at the age of 102.  Mayor Milano will be missed by the entire community.  He is in my thoughts as I post this painting of the beautiful urn that sits in front of Melrose City Hall.

Veterans Day

I've decided to kickoff my blog in anticipation of recognizing Veterans Day this coming Friday.  I thought it would be a nice tribute to my father, to post some of the paintings I did of his medals, that he received during WWII.  Who will you be thinking about this Veterans Day?

This is a photo of the bench we had dedicated in his memory at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum outside of Savannah, Georgia.
